Family excitement!

Currently I am in Seattle. I came up here for my sister's baby shower and to visit the rest of my family (I'm a Washington native). The shower was on Saturday and was really cute. She is having twin boys, so there were lots of matching outfits and blankies and it almost made me want to have a kid. Then there was today.

I woke up to the phone ringing, and my mom telling me that my sister needed to go to the doctor. I had to get up to go watch my nephew while they figured out who would be going to the doctor and who would be taking my nephew (18 months) to speech therapy. It was divided up so that I went to the doctor with my sister. She was itchy this morning, and it turns out that itchiness, if you're pregnant, can mean that your liver is failing! How weird is that? We went to the doctor and she got her liver tested and they checked her skin and everything and the doctor didn't seem nearly as concerned about it as my sister was, so we took that as a good sign. It seems that every time I visit her I want to have a baby less and less. Why is everything so extreme during pregnancy?

On a happier note I got to see the ultrasound (they checked the babies just in case), and they got a great shot of one of their faces. He is adorable!

It is always nerve racking to see people go through pregnancy. I have 5 sisters and they have all handled it differently. I am also married and we are looking to have kids soon. I am excited. My wife is also excited but I do not envy that she has to carry the child.

Wow that must be exciting, twins. I come from a family where triplets are expected. No one in the family has had them yet, normally they skip a generation, so my mom says that I'll end up with the three girls.

In a way it would be ideal, only getting pregnant once, however I could not begin to imagine how to care for three tiny babies at the same time, crying, feeding, diaper changing. Yeah. I will definitely hold off as long as I can.

I don't know how my grandmother did that.

Anyway, I too have a nephew, he's 22 months old. He's the most precious boy ever, he's a boy and gets into everything. But he's arrival has changed our lives forever. He was so welcomed, so loved, my heart melts every time I see him. He grows so fast, it seems like yesterday he was born, and now he runs, and thinks he's reading, and speaking.

Good luck to your sister and her new bundles of joy.
